Christmas Haiku
Mr. Jones' English Set have been writing Haiku on Christmas themes.

Claire, Anthony, Nathan, Emma, Kelly and Natasha get to grips with choosing words for the Haiku Mrs Weston keeps an eye on Liam while Rebecca, Erin, Sam, Nathan and Rebecca are all hard at it.
Alex, Damian and Steffan are all keen on writing Haiku. Christopher counts the number of syllables in his words. Daniel, Mark, Luke and Ross are busy working them out as well.
This is what they did.
We gathered around the whiteboard and brainstormed as many one, two and three syllable words as we could think of about Christmas to include in our Haiku. We then picked a theme for our Haiku and chose the words to fit into the pattern. Here are some we wrote together. Count the syllables as you read them
What is a Haiku?
Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry which is made up of 17 syllables in a pattern of 5 in the first line, 7 in the second and 5 in the third.
Christmas Santa
Excited children
Joyfully we celebrate
Christmas is coming.
 Drops down the chimney,
Rudolf is parked on the roof,
Delivers presents

Long red coat and hat
Big black boots and a black belt
Snowy white beard
