The Christmas Story in Haiku

We all know the Christmas Story, but have you ever tried to write it in haiku. My English Set have been retelling the story of the nativity in Haiku. Click on their names to read them.

There are no rooms to be had
No rooms left at all

Wise men from the east
Saw a bright star in the sky
Followed through the night

Wicked Herod hears
Of the birth of a new King
He wants to kill him

Asks the Three Wise Men
Where the baby Jesus lays
He can worship.

Wise men from the east
Who were following the star
Taken to the babe

Wise men see Jesus
They bring him presents of gold
Frankincense and myrrh
Herod is angry
He kills all the new born babes
In Jerusalem

The wise men are warned
Not to tell Herod the King
Where the babe is born
Because of the dream
Kings went home a different way
Didn't tell Herod

Mary and Joseph
Take the baby to Egypt
To hide from Herod
When King Herod died
Jesus came home from Egypt
He was safe and sound

Christ is born today
Celebrate the Saviour’s birth
We should worship him
